Maesffynnon Irish Setters
We have owned and loved Irish Setters since 1979 when we bought our Tara. We had wanted a pet and companion for our daughter aged two and a half and our son who was nearly one year old. Tara was the best friend anyone could ever wish for and thankfully lived to the age of fifteen and a half. Throughout her lifetime Tara gave us all so much love and pleasure that we had to have another Irish Setter. We then bought Rosie (Shirider Moonlight Sonata at Maesffynnon) and were persuaded to go along to a dog show just to see what it was like. We now have nine Irish Setters and could not imagine life without that wonderful breed around us. We exhibit on a regular basis at both Open and Championship level. We breed occasionally, primarily when we want a puppy for ourselves.
Some five years ago we decided that we would like some land on which to exercise our dogs. It seemed to get more and more difficult to find somewhere where dogs were allowed to run free. We ended up buying a farm which enabled us to have horses, goats and other animals.
